David Bennett
Osteopath

A Foundation of Wholeness and Health

With 27 years of clinical experience, David’s approach to Osteopathy bridges the gap between the physical tensions we carry and the underlying vitality—'The Health'—that supports the body’s natural restorative capacity.

A Formative Journey: From Challenge to Stillness

David’s clinical perspective is deeply informed by his own early life. Having navigated structural and neurological complexities following a traumatic birth and neonatal neurosurgery, he developed a profound, firsthand appreciation for the body’s sensory landscape. In the stillness of the treatment room, this lifelong sensitivity has been channeled into a refined palpatory acuity—a deepened ability to perceive the subtle tensions and history held within the body’s tissues.

This inherent sensitivity became a bridge to the instinctive language of the human body—the "function behind the structure." It was this profound, wordless connection that led him to the study of Osteopathy. Today, David utilises stillness to create a quiet space where the body’s inherent capacity can emerge, allowing this natural vitality to guide the session and support a person’s potential for balance.

Turning Experience into a Resource

Through his international studies in Biodynamic Osteopathy, David discovered the importance of 'central stillness' in supporting the nervous system's ability to self-regulate. This understanding allowed him to turn his personal history into a profound clinical resource. By anchoring his practice in this stillness, he helps others find their own path toward physiological ease and balance, even amidst the noise of modern life.

Clinical Philosophy: Working with "The Health"

David operates within an Osteopathic lineage that prioritises a direct experience of "The Health"—the underlying force that, in the Biodynamic tradition, is viewed as a constant resource supporting recovery and maintenance.

  • Integrated Perspective: David views the body as an integrated whole, acknowledging and honouring both the physical and functional aspects of a person in every session.

  • Central Stillness: He assists patients in finding a place of deep rest. This stillness acts as a doorway to the body's self-regulatory capacity.

  • A Natural Setting: David’s Dunsborough clinic is immersed in nature, providing a calm, restorative environment that reflects the stillness we seek within.

Areas of Clinical Interest

David is passionate about supporting adults and families. He believes that early support—around the time of birth—is a valuable opportunity to foster a natural expression of lifelong health.

  • Integrated Adult Care: Assisting adults with persistent, complex, or multi-faceted health challenges through a gentle, non-invasive approach.

  • Pregnancy Support: Helping mothers maintain physical equilibrium and comfort as their bodies undergo the immense changes of pregnancy.

  • Paediatric Support: Working gently with infants to address musculoskeletal tension following birth. Recognising that a baby’s system is closely linked with their parents', treatments often prioritise the parent's capacity for restorative rest to support the well-being of the whole family.

A Legacy of Service

Drawing inspiration from his family’s deep roots in early Western Australia—including a great-great-grandfather who served as a priest on horseback, traveling the 450km parish between Toodyay and Albany—David views his practice as a lifelong commitment to service. His goal is to provide a dedicated space where the busy mind can step aside, allowing the body’s natural vitality to be recognised, felt, and restored.

A Personal Note on My Practice and Approach to Your Care

In the spirit of complete transparency and true collaboration, I want to share a bit about how I work and why I have designed Healing Tree Osteopathy the way I have.

Every practitioner brings a unique sensory framework to their treatment room. My practice is grounded in strong visual-spatial processing and an elevated sensory awareness. In a clinical setting, this means my hands are highly attuned to mapping out structural relationships, tracking fluid dynamics, and listening to the subtle, self-regulating movements within your tissues. This aligns perfectly with the gentle, relational nature of Biodynamic Osteopathy.

To lean fully into these kinesthetic strengths, I intentionally choose a state of deep, quiet presence during our sessions rather than rapid, analytical multi-tasking. I have structured Healing Tree Osteopathy to be a quiet, unhurried space specifically to eliminate unnecessary sensory 'noise'. This allows me the mental room to listen to your body deeply, process your clinical data methodically, and ensure your care is never rushed.

I highly value clear, deliberate communication. If you ever feel the need to repeat information, share your history in a different way, or ask for an explanation in an alternative format, I completely welcome this. We are partners in your health, and I am here to listen.

Whether you are navigating a complex history or seeking a quiet space for restoration, I welcome the opportunity to support you on your journey toward balance.

Life Outside the Clinic

When he is not in the treatment room, David stays grounded through the natural world. He spends his time with family in the forests of the South West—bushwalking, bike riding, and gardening. These activities reflect his core belief that listening to nature is the key to realigning with the Health and achieving a life of enduring balance.
