David Bennett
Osteopath

A Foundation of Wholeness and Health
With 27 years of clinical experience, David’s approach to Osteopathy bridges the gap between the physical tensions we carry and the underlying vitality—'The Health'—that supports the body’s natural restorative capacity.
A Formative Journey: From Challenge to Stillness
David’s clinical perspective is deeply informed by his own early life. Having navigated structural and neurological complexities following a traumatic birth and neonatal neurosurgery, he developed a profound, firsthand appreciation for the body’s sensory landscape. In the stillness of the treatment room, this lifelong sensitivity has been channeled into a refined palpatory acuity—a deepened ability to perceive the subtle tensions and history held within the body’s tissues.
This inherent sensitivity became a bridge to the instinctive language of the human body—the 'function behind the structure'. It was this profound, wordless connection that led him to the study of Osteopathy. David utilises stillness to create a quiet space where the body’s inherent capacity can emerge. The intention is for this vitality to guide the session, supporting a person’s potential for balance.
Turning Experience into a Resource
Through his international studies in Biodynamic Osteopathy, David discovered the importance of 'central stillness' in supporting the nervous system's ability to self-regulate. This allows David to help others find their own path toward physiological ease, even amidst the noise of modern life. This allowed him to turn his personal history into a clinical resource, helping others find their own path toward physiological ease and balance.
Clinical Philosophy: Working with "The Health"
David operates within an Osteopathic lineage that prioritises a direct experience of "The Health"—the underlying force that, in the Biodynamic tradition, is viewed as a constant resource that supports recovery and maintenance.
-
Integrated Perspective: David views the body as an integrated whole, acknowledging the physical and functional aspects of a person in every session.
-
Central Stillness: He assists patients in finding a place of deep rest. This stillness acts as a doorway to the body's self-regulatory capacity.
-
A Natural Setting: David’s Dunsborough clinic is immersed in nature, providing a calm, restorative environment that reflects the stillness we seek within.
Areas of Clinical Interest
-
David is passionate about supporting adults and families. He believes that early support—around the time of birth—is a valuable opportunity to support a natural expression of health.
-
Integrated Adult Care: Assisting adults with persistent or multi-faceted health challenges through a gentle, non-invasive approach.
-
Pregnancy Support: Helping mothers maintain physical equilibrium as their bodies undergo the immense changes of pregnancy.
-
Paediatric Support: Working with infants to address musculoskeletal tension following birth. Recognizing that a baby’s system is closely linked with their parent's, treatments often prioritize the parent's capacity for restorative rest to support the well-being of the whole family.
A Legacy of Service
Drawing inspiration from his family’s history of service in early Western Australia, his great great grandfather was a priest on horseback - traveling the 450km between his parish in Toodyay and Albany. David views his practice as a commitment to helping people reconnect with their potential for holistic well-being. His goal is to provide a space where the busy mind can step aside, allowing the body’s natural vitality to be recognized.
Life Outside the Clinic
When he is not in the treatment room, David stays grounded through the natural world. He spends his time with family in the forests of the South West, bush walking, bike riding, and gardening. These activities reflect his belief that listening to nature is the key to realigning with the Health and achieving a life of enduring balance.
David welcomes the opportunity to support you on your journey toward balance. Whether you are navigating a complex history or seeking a quiet space for restoration, you are in supportive hands.
